About
![]() David Woodberry takes stunning candid photos of animals in their most genuine moments. His beautiful artistic style and love of animals produces pet portraits that capture dogs, especially, as they play, lounge, and generally entertain. David grew up with animals on farms in Tasmania and developed a love for dogs in particular. He has also been an athlete all of his life, playing professional Australian Rules Football, surfing, golfing, and competing in running events and triathlons. His action photos of dogs at play reflect his knowledge of both animals and sports. In his own words, David lives humanistically in the moment as much as possible. He left a highly-paid career managing a chain of gyms to work on a horse farm, and spent months traveling with a clan of Aborigines, for example. Photography is the most appropriate art form for David to express that characteristic and it comes most naturally to him. He is also known as a gentle and kind person and most everyone is immediately comfortable around him. After receiving his PhD, David traveled in China for months and eventually moved to Boston with an American he met there. He developed and refined his photography while working at Harvard College in a variety of positions, most recently as the Director of Housing. He currently lives in Southern California with the love of his life and artistic partner, Anna-Lisa, and their wonderful dog named Kiwi, a sweet black-lab mix who introduced David to dog photography and is often the subject of his images. His work has been published and exhibited in Boston and Los Angeles and, other than the rare exception, is unmanipulated. David is available for commissions and private photoshoots through Pure Eye Photo. His work currently appears in premier animal magazines and his merchandise is available in pet boutiques and gift shops. |
